Is it time to revamp your wardrobe to fit your lifestyle? We have some tips on assembling your personal wardrobe with a few “must-haves” as the start.
But before adding anything new go through your current clothes and remove any that you have not worn for two years or more, are noticeably stained or damaged or fit so poorly that it’s time to part ways. Package these clothes up and take to a charitable organization.
Next, determine your lifestyle. In part one of this series we will look at the Creatively Casual man.
As a “Creatively Casual” person, you work in a casual environment where creatively is valued above all. But you want to dress a notch above, expressing your creativity through your basic wardrobe:
- 1 Suit and 2 Ties
- 1 Pair Dress Shoes
- 2 Pair Casual Leather Shoes (Suede or Saddle Shoes)
- 10+ Dress Shirts (tailored, contrast stitching, unique fabrics)
- 4 Pairs of Well-Fitting Jeans
- 2 Pair Slacks, Dark & Light
- 6+ Button-up collared sport shirts
- 2 Solid Polo Shirts
- 6 Sweaters
- 10+ Undershirts
- 1+ Sports Jacket
- 1 Simple Watch
- 5+ Pocket Squares
- 1 Overcoat (aim for a unique fabric)
Ideally, you will build your wardrobe up a few pieces at a time over several years. It is most important to remember that it is better to own a few well-made garments that you wear often and take care of by bringing them to Flair for cleaning, than to have a wardrobe full of cheap and poorly-fitting clothes.
